We are living through intense times.

We may feel exhausted, disconnected, or strangely numb — not because something is wrong, but because our nervous systems have been under prolonged pressure.

When the world doesn’t settle, the body often carries the load.

At the same time, we may sense that we’re standing in a threshold moment. Old ways are falling away. The future hasn’t fully revealed itself yet. We’re being asked to live differently — but how?

Some traditions call this a bardo — a space between what was and what’s becoming.

In moments like this, the body becomes essential. 

In the Midst of It All is an invitation to turn toward the body — not only to regulate stress, but to remember how to feel pleasure, joy, and aliveness again.

 

Your Body is Intelligent 

Actually, your body is brilliant!
It’s always responding to the moment, prioritizing what it needs most.

Under prolonged stress, the body does exactly what it’s designed to do:
shift into protection. Energy goes toward vigilance and bracing. Pleasure and play don’t disappear — they simply move to the background.

This isn’t a failure.
It’s wisdom.

But the body isn’t meant to live in protection forever.

When the body receives signals of safety — movement, rhythm, breath, sound, and connection — it begins to reorganize. Guarding softens. Aliveness returns.

Pleasure becomes possible.

These are not indulgences.
They are biological cues that tell the nervous system it’s safe enough to open.

When pleasure comes back online, the body shifts out of protection and into presence.

How the Day Flows

The experience unfolds gradually — building safety first, then pleasure, expression, and connection.

1. Gentle Yoga & Somatic Grounding
We begin with a carefully guided yoga and somatic movement sequence to help the nervous system settle, release tension, and establish a felt sense of safety and balance in the body.

2. Breath & Vocal Activation
Breath naturally opens into sound. We explore gentle, playful vocal activation — humming, toning, and simple sounds — to stimulate vagal pathways, support regulation, and awaken expression in a light, accessible way.
(No singing skills required.)

3. Embodied Movement & Pleasure Practices
As the body feels more supported, we interweave slow somatic movement, rhythmic practices, and moments of guided exploration — allowing warmth, sensation, and enjoyment to arise organically.

4. Dance & Aliveness
Later in the arc, simple, invitational dance brings energy, vitality, and joy online — not as performance, but as embodied play and self-expression.

5. Guided Rest & Integration
We pause with guided rest and body awareness so your system can absorb, settle, and integrate what’s been opened.

6. Small Group Connection & Sharing
Participants move into facilitated breakout groups for reflection, listening, and being witnessed — creating safety, resonance, and the relief of shared humanity

Everything is optional, invitational, and paced with care — you’re always welcome to listen to your body and follow what feels right for you.

I'm Janet Farnsworth

I am a body empowerment & intimacy coach, and the founder of Ready for Intimacy™, a movement-based, spiritual transformation system to help women feel confident in their bodies so they can enjoy passionate, connected, and soul-satisfying intimacy. I am also the two-time bestselling author of "Love Your Body: The Guide to Stop Making Your Body a Battleground” & "Your Body is Your Superpower”.

After 30 years supporting women heal body trauma - including sexual assault, addiction, disability prejudice, and eating disorders - I now travel the globe spreading the word about the miracle of every body and the rich relationships we deserve.

I am currently based on Maui in Hawaii, where I am happily letting go of my own old stories about the size of my thighs, and instead, alternate between enjoying gloriously fulfilling connection when with beloved family, and nature hikes when on my own.
